Every year on 25 April, the Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon transforms from a bustling, luxurious street into a sea of red carnations and rhythmic celebration. Walking down the wide boulevard, the air vibrates with the deep, resonant thumping of drums, whistles, and songs celebrating the 1974 revolution. It is a powerful experience where the sound of percussion meets the collective voice of thousands.

The "Freedom March" is more than just a parade; it is a living monument to the day Portugal ended the dictatorship. On the streets, you can see the smiles of those who lived through the transition, alongside younger generations carrying the same flowers, highlighting the timeless celebration. This year again, as seen in the video, people dance and chant under the spring sun. Just as the wave patterns of the Rossio square nearby symbolise the motion of the sea, this march represents the unstoppable tide of history moving toward light.
