This project represents more than just a garden; it is a vision for a "social lung" that balances the city’s stunning coastline with a much-needed year-round urban sanctuary.

At the centre of this movement stands the Girossauro, a massive sculpture that has become a silent witness to the city’s evolution. For local residents who grew up here, it is a cherished symbol of childhood and resilience. For the international community that has made Lagos home, it is a bridge between the city’s past and its future. The movement aims to transition the Girossauro from its current isolation on an asphalt lot to the centrepiece of a vibrant, regenerative ecosystem.

The proposed park is designed as a sanctuary for all seasons. While the beaches are the pride of Lagos, the community seeks a space that offers the cool shade of a Miyawaki forest and the quiet refuge of a Mindfulness Garden—essential assets for mental health and local biodiversity. The vision includes a "school in nature" for environmental education and an ecological pond, ensuring the site becomes a living classroom for future generations.

With thousands of signatures and growing momentum, the campaign is a testament to the trust residents place in local leadership to create lasting social infrastructure. By turning an abandoned urban space into a thriving green destination, Lagos can lead the way in sustainable Mediterranean living. The message from the people is clear: it is time to build a space where nature and community thrive together, 12 months a year.
