The evening was hosted in collaboration with Dr Mike Linney and aligned with the global Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, bringing together guests for a meaningful and memorable cause.

Dr Linney’s initiative is deeply personal, driven by his own journey and a commitment to improving outcomes for men. As he highlights, men die on average six years earlier than women, often from preventable causes. His campaign supports biomedical research focused on personalised prostate cancer care, global clinical registries, and mental health projects.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with 1.7 million new cases diagnosed annually, and ranking as the third leading cause of cancer-related death amongst men. Further research into predisposing causes, prevention, and more effective treatments are still needed to improve survival rates—making initiatives like this both timely and essential.

The funds raised will support key research and awareness efforts championed by Dr Linney, who is leading a personal campaign, as part of the global The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Taking place on 17 May 2026, this event brings together participants worldwide to raise funds for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.

Our charity dinner was a true celebration of generosity and collaboration. Derek Thornton, Jonnie Pratt, and their dedicated team were instrumental to the success of the evening. Guests enjoyed an exceptional dining experience, with outstanding food and impeccable service that set the tone for a truly special night.

The event was further elevated through the excellent auctioneering skills of Mrs. Julie Dedman and the generous contributions from sponsors and donors, including exclusive auction and raffle prizes such as a half-day cruise from Vilamoura Dream Cruises, a golf experience at Pinheiros Altos, a premium bottle of whisky from Whisky&Co, part of the legacy of entrepreneur Alfredo Gonçalves, a premium shooting experience with lunch in the Algarve, a magnum of wine, and grooming services from Man Cave Barbershop in Quinta do Lago.

Additional donations on the night reflected the strong spirit of the community and helped drive the final total. Contributions are still being welcomed via Dr Linney’s fundraising page: https://gentlemansride.com/fundraiser/mikelinney569480

With continued support, initiatives like this will play a vital role in advancing research, raising awareness, and improving the future of men’s health worldwide.
