“In 2026, Ponta Delgada Airport will welcome three new airlines, reinforcing international connectivity,” said ANA Aeroportos de Portugal/Vinci Airports, which manages João Paulo II Airport on São Miguel Island in the Azores.

Canadian airlines Air Canada and WestJet, along with Azores Airlines, will connect Ponta Delgada and Toronto this summer.

Austrian Airlines will inaugurate a route to Vienna, becoming the fourth Lufthansa Group company to operate in Ponta Delgada, after Lufthansa, Edelweiss and Eurowings.

In a statement, ANA/Vinci highlighted that it has strengthened its incentive program to attract more airlines and new routes to the Azores, now ensuring "up to 100% of the support in the second year of operation," double the previously granted incentive.

According to the company, airport fees in the Azores, which are "the lowest" in its network, will remain unchanged in 2026, "for the second consecutive year."
