According to the report, which analysed over 9.5 million flights at 46 airports across the continent during 2025, the northern airport recorded a delay rate of 5.31% for flights with delays exceeding 60 minutes, resulting in an average wait time of 109.45 minutes in these cases.
This instability in northern air traffic is mainly driven by connections to Lisbon, Madrid, and Amsterdam, which are identified as the routes that contribute most to this scenario of non-compliance.
Interestingly, Lisbon Airport presents a unique statistic that placed it in 11th position, just outside the "Top 10," since, despite registering the highest proportion of delayed flights in the entire sample (7.17%), the severity of the delay was comparatively lower, with an average wait time of 101.7 minutes.
In the European context, the study identified Manchester Airport as the worst, followed by Palma de Mallorca and Krakow, with the latter standing out for the severity of its delays, averaging 138.23 minutes.
Anton Radchenko, CEO of AirAdvisor, emphasises that these results challenge the perception that large hubs are the most chaotic, revealing that medium-sized airports, such as Porto's, are more vulnerable to delays that are difficult to absorb under pressure because they lack the same recovery capacity as large international airports.
