Jaime Faria, 22, missed out on winning the title at the Austrian Challenger circuit tournament on clay on 3 May, losing in the final to Russian Roman Safiullin, by scores of 6-4, 4-6 and 6-7 (4-7), after two hours and 25 minutes of play, but capitalized on his good performance in Mauthausen to make a significant leap in the ranking.

Nuno Borges remains the national number one and the only Portuguese tennis player among the top 100 in the world, despite falling three places to 52nd, while Henrique Rocha dropped two positions to 120th, having been overtaken by Jaime Faria, whose best ranking is 87th, achieved in February 2025.

Sinner, who on 3 May became the first tennis player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles by beating German Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in the Madrid tournament final, remained at the top of the men's circuit, ahead of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Zverev, who remained in second and third places, respectively.

Serbian Novak Djokovic, the record holder for Grand Slam titles with 24 trophies, remained in fourth place, and the only changes in the top 10 were the exchange of positions between Daniil Medvedev and Lorenzo Musetti, with the Russian moving up one place to ninth, relegating the Italian to 10th.

In the women's rankings, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka remained at the top, followed by Kazakh Elena Rybakina in second, but Polish Iga Swiatek rose to third, relegating American Coco Gauff to fourth.
