Hypertension during pregnancy affects three to eight percent. In the study, 112 women tracked blood pressure with tailored medication, while 108 received standard care, with follow-up showing improved artery flexibility in the monitoring group.

The study, published in Hypertension, found that the daily monitoring reduced arterial stiffness linked to stroke and heart attack risk. Funded by the British Heart Foundation, larger trials are underway to assess the long-term impact and potential rollout of personalised postnatal care.
