According to the municipality, the announcement was made during the signing of support agreements with 42 cultural and recreational associations across the county.

Mayor Telmo Pinto described the candidacy as a “collective project”, saying the goal is not necessarily to create something new, but to highlight the cultural work already taking place across the municipality.

According to the municipality, the project will rely heavily on local associations, artists and community groups already active throughout the region.

The municipality also announced nearly €887,000 in funding this year for local cultural and recreational associations, as part of a wider strategy to strengthen cultural activity and preserve local identity across the county.
