Overall, the number of new companies in Portugal fell by 4.6% in the first four months of the year; however, the situation is reversed in the construction sector.

In the construction sector, there was a 7.7% increase in new companies, driven by demand for housing and property rehabilitation. In contrast, real estate activities fell by 2.9%.

“The Construction and Information and Communication Technologies sectors are the only ones where the accumulated values of company creation grew in the first 4 months of the year,” says Informa D&B in a statement, quoted by idealista.

This performance in construction “consolidates the growth trend that has been observed since 2020 in this sector, reflecting the strong demand for housing and urban rehabilitation and the existence of business opportunities in this market,” reads the note released by the company.
