Upon arriving at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, Maria Beatriz Matos told journalists that she feels “anger” towards those who support and collaborate with Israel, highlighting the “atrocities that Israel commits.” The doctor hopes that Portugal will sever all diplomatic and economic relations with Israel.

In turn, Gonçalo Dias reveals that he was detained in a small space with “hundreds of people, (…) without hygienic conditions.” The doctor and activist also states that sometimes they did not have access to “water, toilet paper,” in an attempt to weaken the activists.

Gonçalo Dias also stated that he saw people being shot and a man having one of his knees broken because he was forced “to lean on that knee.” During this time, according to the activist, the Israelis “laughed and sang animatedly while committing all these acts.”
