According to the Lagos Municipality, all screenings will be free.

The programme will feature a selection of recent Italian films, including O Último Padrinho, inspired by the life of Sicilian mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, as well as Hey Joe, starring James Franco, and Louca-Mente, one of Italy’s biggest box office successes this year.

The festival will open on 26 May with O Último Padrinho, directed by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia, while the closing session on 29 May will feature Três Vezes Adeus, directed by Isabel Coixet and inspired by the bestselling book O Sentido da Náusea by Michela Murgia.

According to the organisers, the travelling festival aims to promote contemporary Italian cinema across Portugal and has already passed through cities including Lisbon, Porto and Tavira before arriving in Lagos.

The Lagos edition is organised with the support of Lagos Municipality and will also include educational screenings for local secondary schools.
