“This year alone, we have already held nine successful events in Austin, Houston, Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Chicago,” said Open Media CEO Bruce Hawker. “These cities were included in three roadshows held so far this year, with the next events already scheduled for September in San Francisco, Seattle and Phoenix. We are also planning a further two roadshows in October and November, each taking in two additional cities.”
For Portuguese companies looking to reach a qualified North American audience, the events offer a direct and highly effective platform to connect with people actively considering relocation, residency, investment, property purchase, retirement, or a long-term lifestyle move to Portugal.

Open Media now organises two distinct event formats. The well-established “Living in Portugal” shows focus on relocation and typically features between twelve and fourteen participating companies, each exhibiting and presenting during seminar sessions. Topics include real estate, legal matters, taxation, Golden Visa-eligible investment funds, removals, currency exchange, healthcare and health insurance.
In addition, Open Media also organises smaller, more focused “Portugal Residency & Investment” events. These typically bring together five or six companies and are aimed at attendees interested in investment, residency options and the Golden Visa, particularly those looking for a “Plan B” rather than immediate relocation.
The US roadshow held earlier this month featured an impressive line-up of speakers and exhibitors, providing visitors with comprehensive, practical information about moving to, investing in and living in Portugal.
Three law firms were represented. Los Angeles-based Plan B Outbound Migration opened the seminar programme by introducing the concept of acquiring a second residency or citizenship. Lisbon-based NSM Lawyers explained the different residency options available, including the various D visas and the Golden Visa. Prime Legal focused on taxation in Portugal for US citizens, as well as legal matters relating to property ownership.
Golden Visa-eligible investment funds were also strongly represented, with presentations from Optimize Investment Partners, Iberis Capital and BlueCrow Capital. Each offered insights into different aspects of the Portuguese economy and related investment opportunities.
For visitors interested in real estate, Fine & Country Portugal delivered an informative overview of the Portuguese property market. Algarve-based developer Carvoeiro Branco and the Martinhal Group also presented, with Martinhal including information on its international school investments through Edu Hub Lisbon.
The importance of using a reputable foreign exchange provider for international currency transfers was addressed by Currencies Direct.
Each seminar session concluded with a practical discussion on healthcare, health insurance, removals and day-to-day life in Portugal, hosted by Open Media journalist Alexandra Stilwell together with Bruce Hawker, in association with Medal Insurance, Global International Relocation and foreign residents’ association AFPOP.

After each session, visitors were invited to taste high-quality Portuguese wines while networking directly with speakers and exhibitors. This informal setting gave participating companies valuable one-to-one time with a highly engaged audience already considering Portugal as a destination for relocation, investment or retirement.
Open Media is now in the final planning stages of its next US roadshow, which will visit San Francisco, Seattle and Phoenix on 19, 23 and 26 September. At the time of going to press, two positions were still available for companies wishing to take part.
For Portuguese businesses seeking direct access to motivated US audiences, these events provide a proven route to market, combining brand visibility, seminar presentations, exhibition space and direct personal engagement with prospective clients.
