The Lusíadas Saúde Group has begun offering, in its units, a telemonitoring solution that allows real-time remote monitoring of cancer patients, early identification of symptoms and side effects associated with treatments, and strengthening the intervention capacity of clinical teams.
The Cureety platform is a certified medical device that already allows Lusíadas Saúde to remotely monitor more than 300 people, making the Group the only private provider in Portugal to combine continuous telemonitoring with dedicated support from patient navigators, specialised nurses who act as the point of contact for each person undergoing treatment, throughout the entire oncological journey.
Through this digital solution, patients can answer questionnaires about their health status, report symptoms and adverse effects, and communicate directly with the clinical team via cell phone, tablet, or computer. This continuous monitoring allows medical teams to identify early signs of treatment-related complications and intervene quickly when necessary, thereby increasing the safety and effectiveness of clinical follow-up.
In this model adopted by the Lusíadas Saúde Group, patient navigators accompany each patient from the first stage, the diagnosis, supporting decision-making processes regarding treatment, clarifying doubts, coordinating consultations, exams, and therapies, and facilitating the bond between the patient, their family, and the multidisciplinary team, in an approach that reflects the commitment to accompany each person throughout their health journey, with closeness, humanity, and rigor.
In addition to telemonitoring, the Cureety platform integrates customised modules that enable integrated care management across different clinical workflows, such as outpatient chemotherapy, oral therapies, and radiotherapy, supporting teams in the organisation and monitoring of patients. This technology allows us to monitor all cancer patients, regardless of their treatment type.
The app also provides a library of educational content and support resources tailored to each person's specific situation, contributing to a better understanding of treatment and symptom management, and facilitating access to the various support services available throughout the clinical journey.
This approach is part of the Lusíadas Oncology Total Care project, a care model that accompanies all stages of the oncology journey: prevention, diagnosis, and follow-up, ensuring an integrated, personalised approach centred on the person and their family, for lives with more life.
“The journey of a cancer patient is complex and demanding, involving different stages and clinical teams. Telemonitoring, combined with the dedicated follow-up of our patient navigators, allows us to provide more personalised and effective care, ensure that we are close to each person, even outside the hospital walls, monitor their clinical situation in real time, and anticipate possible complications,” says Dr. Eduarda Reis, Chief Medical Officer of the Lusíadas Saúde Group.
In Portugal, according to the National Oncology Report, cancer is the second leading cause of death, responsible for approximately 28,000 deaths per year, which highlights the importance of solutions that allow for continuous patient monitoring and early detection of warning signs.
