In a global scenario where organisers are reassessing their choices in search of stability, accessibility, and quality, the Algarve region intends to capitalise on its modern infrastructure and air connectivity.

According to André Gomes, president of Algarve Tourism, the current goal goes beyond simply attracting seasonal visitors: "The challenge today is to consolidate relationships and establish the Algarve as a consistent choice throughout the year."

Associations World Congress

Proof of this attractiveness and the territory's logistical capacity will materialise between 7 and 9 June, with the Associations World Congress 2026 taking place at the Lagoa Congress Centre. This prestigious meeting brings together leaders and representatives of federations, professional societies, and international organisations.

For the regional authorities, hosting this forum is a strong sign of recognition of the Algarve's competitiveness in the medium and large-sized association segment, serving as a direct platform to attract future events of high institutional relevance.

The external agenda kicked off in the first days of the month and ran through 4 June, with participation in the exclusive L.E./Miami event in the United States.

Personalised meetings

The Algarve delegation will focus on personalised meetings with operators specialising in the luxury market in the Americas, with particular emphasis on the United States and Canada.

Also in the North American market, on 15 and 16 June, the Algarve will participate in the Road to World Cup initiative, an action promoted by the Portuguese Football Federation with the support of Turismo de Portugal, designed to project the country's brand in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Market diversification extends to the European continent, with a strong focus on Northern European source markets. Between June 15th and 17th, the RTA (Regional Tourism Authority) will participate in the "Visit Portugal – Netherlands" roadshow, a series of professional meetings that will tour Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven to generate new business with Dutch tour operators.

This will be followed by participation in the M&I Flagship Stockholm in Sweden from 17 to 20 June, aimed at professional event organisers, and in The Meetings Show in London on 24 to 25 June, one of the largest showcases in the meetings, incentives, and congresses sector.

The June promotional plan concludes with two highly specialised events.

From 23 to 26 June, the destination will be present at TBEX North America 2026 in Richmond, Virginia, a forum dedicated to digital content creators, bloggers, and influencers in the travel sector. Finally, from 29 June to 2 July, attention turned to the Asian market with participation in ILTM Asia Pacific, reinforcing the appeal of routes and clients in the luxury segment.

Alongside these trade fairs, the Algarve will host several familiarisation trips (famtrips) throughout the month for travel agents from Poland and Germany, enabling direct contact with the region's ever-evolving hotel and natural offerings.
