According to the Portuguese Olympic Committee, the Sporting athlete surpassed her previous personal best (56.64 seconds), improving by more than two seconds, to win the event at the Liese Prokop Memorial in Sankt Pölten, Austria.

The time of 54.48 seconds puts her very close to the national record set by Fatoumata Diallo (54.45 seconds) at the World Championships in Tokyo.

The European Championships will be held between August 10 and 16 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Also competing in Austria, Diogo Barrigana finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, with 49.97 seconds.
