The musical program for this month kicks off with two shows included in the Lisbon Music Fest, whose extension to Batalha brings the Missouri Camerata Virtuosi to the Royal Cloister and the Cache Youth Philharmonic Orchestra to Largo Infante D. Henrique.
The first concert is on Saturday at 6 pm, with the Missouri Camerata Virtuosi, a string orchestra formed by young musicians from local schools and the Missouri Academy of Music, coming from Columbia, USA, and presenting a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary.
Also integrated into the Lisbon Music Fest program, the Cache Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, from Utah, USA, will perform in Batalha on the 13th, playing a symphonic program starting at 9 pm.
Also from the USA comes the Goshen College Choir, which will sing at the Batalha Monastery church on the 16th, starting at 4:00 PM, conducted by Scott Hochstetler and H. Roz Woll.
The Imperial College Chamber Choir, from London, England, will also perform at the church of the UNESCO World Heritage monument on the 27th, at 5 pm.
Closing the month, on the 30th, the Friends in Harmony choir will also sing at the Batalha Monastery church, bringing together singers and music teachers from community choirs and churches from various regions of the USA.
The program also includes the inauguration of the exhibition “Memories of Batalha”.
Starting on the 13th, the old kitchen will display a collection of objects from a private collection which, according to information released by the monument, are united by the representation of the Batalha Monastery, inviting visitors "to discover stories and traditions that mark the identity of the town".
