In a reversal of what happened in April, Argentina rose to first place, replacing France, the runner-up of the 2022 World Cup, which fell to third, while Spain, the European champion, remained in second place and England in fourth.

In the top 10, there is only one change, with Morocco overtaking the Netherlands for seventh place.

Portugal's opponents in Group K of the 2026 World Cup maintained their positions, with Colombia remaining 13th, the Democratic Republic of Congo 46th, and Uzbekistan 50th.

Excluding Brazil (sixth), Cape Verde, which will make its World Cup debut, remains the best of the Portuguese-speaking countries, rising to 67th place, ahead of Angola (88th), Mozambique (103rd), Guinea-Bissau (132nd), Macau (193rd), São Tomé and Príncipe (195th), and Timor-Leste (201st).

Carlos Queiroz will be the only Portuguese coach at the 2026 World Cup, with his Ghana in 73rd place.

Guinea, coached by Paulo Duarte, fell to 81st place, while Kuwait, coached by Hélio Sousa, rose to 133rd place.
