Public voting continues for the 2026 Sovereign Portuguese Student Art Prize, celebrating the creativity, imagination and individuality of young artists from schools throughout Portugal.
Bringing together thirty shortlisted works, the Prize offers a glimpse into the diverse perspectives, ideas and artistic approaches of a new generation. From painting and drawing to sculpture and mixed media, the selected artworks reflect the breadth of creativity being nurtured in classrooms and communities across the country today.
One of the ambitions of the Prize is to give young artists the experience of exhibiting their work publicly and sharing it with audiences beyond the classroom. Through exhibitions, online platforms and public voting, students are able to see their work viewed, discussed and celebrated by a wider community.

Members of the public are invited to vote online for their favourite artwork as part of the Public Vote Prize, while all shortlisted works are also available for purchase. Proceeds from artwork sales support both the young artists themselves and the Sovereign Art Foundation Portugal's ongoing expressive arts and community programmes for children.
Across Lisbon, Estremoz and the Algarve, Sovereign Art Festival delivers expressive arts programmes led by certified art therapists, providing carefully structured sessions that use creative practice to support emotional wellbeing, communication and confidence. These programmes are not traditional art classes, but spaces where children are encouraged to express themselves, reflect and connect with others through drawing, painting and collaborative making.

Alongside this work, the Foundation partners with local artists to deliver free monthly workshops for children and families, creating opportunities for communities to engage directly with artists and contemporary creative practices in welcoming and accessible environments. The next workshop will take place on 4 July at Dona Ajuda in Lisbon, with details of upcoming events available via the "What's On" section of the Foundation's website and through its Instagram.
Together, these initiatives form an important part of SAF's mission to make creativity accessible while building stronger connections between art, education and community.

Following a successful exhibition at Espaço JALI in Silves, the collection of shortlisted artworks will continue its journey across Portugal. The works will next be exhibited at Howard's Folly in Estremoz from August to October, before being presented once more at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes in Lisbon later in the year.
The Sovereign Art Foundation believes creativity should be celebrated and accessible to everyone. Through the Student Prize, the Foundation hopes to encourage confidence, inspire artistic ambition and create greater visibility for young creative talent across Portugal.
