We have immediately made a 50-member emergency civil protection team available, an offer for which Vice President Delcy Rodríguez promptly expressed her gratitude and acceptance," he stated.
During the call, the Portuguese Prime Minister said he conveyed to the Venezuelan Vice President the "full solidarity of the Portuguese people with the people and government of Venezuela in the face of this tragedy," as well as condolences for the lives lost.
He noted that Portugal will participate in the joint European Union support effort through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, assistance for which Venezuela has already applied.
Montenegro also assured that the Portuguese Embassy in Caracas and the consular network "are mobilised to support the large Portuguese community in Venezuela."
He said that Venezuela has an open channel with Portugal for support at both the bilateral and European Union levels, and that Venezuela can count on Portugal for the response to and recovery from this natural disaster.
