At Hard Rock Stadium, Portugal will enter the field with four points, compared to six for the Colombians, with a draw being enough for the South Americans to confirm the victory in the group.
Roberto Martínez's team remains in second place but could still fall to third in Group K. For that to happen, they would have to lose to Colombia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, third with one point, would have to 'crush' Uzbekistan.
If they manage to beat the Colombians, the national team will secure first place and face one of the eight best third-placed teams in the round of 16, in a match to be held in Kansas City.
The second place in the group forces the Portuguese team to travel to Toronto, Canada, where they will face the second-placed team from Group L, which could be England, Croatia, or Ghana, and will be coached by Carlos Queiroz. All of these teams, in theory, have the potential to make life difficult for Roberto Martínez.
Portugal will try to repeat the feat of 1966, 2006, and 2022, when they finished the group stage in first place, in what ended up being the three best performances of all time for the Portuguese team.
Portugal faces Colombia on Sunday, 28 June, at 12:30 am, Lisbon time, in Miami Gardens, in a match of the third and final round of Group K, to be refereed by Australian Alireza Faghani.
The Portuguese team reached this stage after drawing with the Democratic Republic of Congo (1-1) in their debut and thrashing Uzbekistan (5-0) in the second round, in matches held in Houston.
Colombia, already qualified, leads Group K with six points, followed by Portugal in second place with four, the Democratic Republic of Congo in third with one, and Uzbekistan, last and still without a point.
