The new store will be located in Quarteira, on Avenida Fonte Santa, in an opening that “integrates the brand’s expansion plan” in Portugal, as stated in a press release sent to The Portugal News.

The new store has created 28 new jobs, “reflecting the discounter’s contribution to boosting the local economy and employment in the Algarve region.” Thus, with the new store in Quarteira, the municipality of Loulé will have four stores, while the Faro district will have a total of 23 stores.

Quoted in a statement, João Braz Teixeira, Managing Director of Expansion and Real Estate at ALDI Portugal, states that “the Algarve is a strategic area for ALDI Portugal, not only because it marked our entry into Portugal, but also because of the close relationship we have been building with the local community. This new store in Quarteira, in addition to providing a convenient and accessible shopping experience, was designed to meet the different needs of those who choose us.”

According to information given to The Portugal News, through a press release, the store has a total area of ​​1000 square metres and 115 parking spaces, which include spaces for reduced mobility, bicycles, dog parking, four charging points for vehicles and eight spaces for motorhomes. In addition to the parking spaces, the new store in Quarteira offers a 24-hour laundry service and the ability to receive and send orders via the Locky lockers.

In terms of sustainability, the Aldi store in Quarteira "has solar panels installed and will also be equipped with a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation, reflecting the retailer's continued commitment to more efficient and responsible solutions."

Supporting the community

To support the local community, Aldi intends to donate surplus food from the store to the Algarve Food Bank Against Hunger, thereby combating food waste and supporting local residents.

On opening day, customers will receive a €5 voucher when making their purchases, to be used on a future purchase of €20 or more.
