The match is scheduled for Thursday at 7pm local time (midnight Friday in Lisbon) at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.

Luís Montenegro previously attended the national team's second group-stage match in Houston, USA, against Uzbekistan.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, attended Portugal's opening match of the 2026 World Cup against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which ended in a 1–1 draw and was also held in Houston.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, António José Seguro, attended the team's third match against Colombia, which ended in a goalless draw, in Miami, also in the United States.

The 2026 World Cup, the first to feature 48 national teams, began on 11 June and runs until July 19, the day of the final, with matches held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
