Designed to celebrate everyday venues rather than fine dining, the list shines a spotlight on cafés, bakeries, ice cream parlours, beach bars, wine bars, kiosks and casual restaurants where good food and a laid-back atmosphere take centre stage.

The initiative, first introduced in 2025, aims to highlight places that locals return to time and again. According to the guide, the selected venues are "informal, accessible and full of character" – businesses that help bring communities together while offering quality food and drink at reasonable prices.

This year's selection spans mainland Portugal as well as the Azores and Madeira, featuring a mix of long-established favourites and exciting new openings.

The Algarve is particularly well represented, with several businesses receiving recognition across different categories. Among those awarded are Poke Market in Olhão in the Fast Good category, Gelato-Ria in Olhão, Sorbetto in Portimão and Crema di Gelato in Lagos for ice cream, Coiznha da Tia Fatinha in the Petisqueiras category, while cafés such as Bakie in Faro and A Casa da Isabel in Portimão also made the list.

Several beachside venues also made the list, including Bar da Praia in Aljezur and Xakra Beach Bar in Peniche. In the restaurant category, Ú Venâncio and Caniço in Portimão, along with O Primo dos Caracóis in Olhão, were also recognised.

The awards are divided into several categories, including cafés and bakeries, fast casual dining, ice cream shops, petisqueiras, kiosks, restaurants and wine bars, reflecting the wide variety of places people enjoy during the summer months.

Rather than focusing on luxury dining experiences, the Soletes celebrate establishments that combine quality, authenticity and a relaxed atmosphere, making them ideal stops for everything from a morning coffee to sunset drinks or a casual meal with friends.
