During the summer, the best meals are often the simplest ones. The kind you take to the beach, share at an impromptu picnic, or enjoy between swims, without fuss or formality. With this in mind, Supermercados Apolónia has launched a new range of gourmet sandwiches.
Available from the Take-Away section at the Almancil store, the new has been created for the long summer days, when enjoying good food should not mean interrupting the holiday mood. The concept reimagines the humble sandwich, so often associated with convenience, as a more refined option, featuring internationally inspired flavour combinations, a variety of breads and carefully selected ingredients that give each recipe its own distinctive character.
The selection includes bagels, focaccias, pretzel rolls and toasted bread, showcasing flavours from different culinary traditions. Highlights include pastrami with chimichurri mayonnaise, roast beef served in a pretzel roll with honey and mustard coleslaw, walnuts and Parmesan, and a roast beef bagel with pepper sauce, caramelised onion and cabbage.
The focaccias draw clear inspiration from Italian cuisine, with options such as mortadella with pesto, burrata cream and pistachios, and salami with pesto rosso, guanciale and salami. For those looking for a meat-free alternative, there is a vegetarian recipe featuring seitan, hummus and tzatziki. Meanwhile, the smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, dill and cucumber offers a fresh, timeless choice for warmer days.
More than simply a quick meal, these sandwiches reflect a distinctly Algarve way of enjoying summer: relaxed dining, thoughtfully crafted flavours and making the most of every moment outdoors. Whether packed for a day at the beach, enjoyed during a shaded break or picked up as a convenient lunch while passing through Almancil, they are designed to fit effortlessly into the season.
Prepared in-house by Apolónia's team using the retailer's own recipes, the new gourmet sandwich range demonstrates that convenience can still be crafted with care and attention to detail – proving that even on holiday, there's always room to eat well.
