The winners of the Automobile Club of Portugal’s (ACP) Electric Car of the Year 2026 awards have been announced, with consumers selecting the top-performing fully electric vehicles across four categories, Executive Digest reports.

Launched in 2023, the ACP Electric Car of the Year awards are designed to encourage electric mobility while giving drivers an active role in recognising the country’s best battery-powered vehicles. The initiative focuses exclusively on 100 percent electric models available on the Portuguese market.

Awards recognise four market segments

This year’s winners include the Mercedes-Benz CLA in the Family category, the Audi A6 e-tron in the Premium category, the Citroën ë-C3 in the City/Utility category and the Jeep Compass EV in the SUV/Crossover category.

Each category featured six competing vehicles representing different driving needs and market segments.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA was selected as the favourite family model thanks to its combination of long driving range, ultra-fast charging capability and overall balance of efficiency, technology and performance.

In the Premium category, consumers chose the Audi A6 e-tron, highlighting its build quality, comfort, spacious interior, performance and suitability for long-distance travel.

The Citroën ë-C3 claimed the City/Utility title after standing out as a practical, comfortable and efficient option for everyday urban driving.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Compass EV received the most votes in the SUV/Crossover category. According to ACP, the model impressed voters with its rugged design, spacious cabin, driver assistance technologies and a driving range of up to 650 kilometres.

ACP prepares to crown overall winner

Although the category winners have now been confirmed, the competition’s highest honour is still to come. The overall ACP Electric Car of the Year 2026 will be announced on 4 September.

The ACP says the awards were created to help consumers navigate the growing electric vehicle market while recognising models that best meet different driving requirements. The competition places particular emphasis on factors such as efficiency, technology, comfort and the overall driving experience, reflecting the increasing importance of electric mobility in Portugal.
