The IPMA has also placed more than 70 municipalities in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real, Viseu, Bragança, Guarda, Coimbra, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Portalegre and Faro at very high risk.

More than 60 municipalities in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Vila Real, Viseu, Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon, Portalegre, Évora, Beja and Faro are also at high risk of wildfires on 22 July.

The Institute highlights that the fire risk will remain high at least until the end of the weekend.

The risk of wildfires determined by IPMA has five levels, ranging from low to maximum. The calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and the amount of precipitation in the previous 24 hours.

IPMA forecasts for 22 July on the mainland mostly clear or partly cloudy skies, with periods of increased cloudiness on the west coast until mid-morning, cloudiness that may persist in some locations along the coastal strip north of Cabo Raso.

Generally light winds are also expected, with morning fog or mist in some locations and a slight rise in temperature, especially the maximum temperature, in the interior of the Central and Southern regions and in the Algarve.

Minimum temperatures will range between 15 degrees Celsius (Viseu) and 20 (Faro), and maximum temperatures between 24 (Viana do Castelo and Porto) and 35 (Bragança, Castelo Branco, Évora and Beja).
