The mayor of Caminha, Miguel Alves, told Lusa news agency that the intention of the company behind the hotel was to have the project approved by late this year and to then begin works immediately.
The new hotel, to be known as Âncora – River & Nature, is to have 51 accommodation units with the capacity to house 108 guests per day and the ability to generate a turnover of around €1.5 million per year.
The business which is to be “built from scratch” is set to employ 29 people and will offer a sustainable option to travellers in the local area.
