80% electricity from renewable sources in 2030

The ministry of Environment, Matos Fernandes,has said that 80% of the electricity in Portugal will come from renewable sources in 2030.

“Portugal is prepared for the challenges of the future and for the sustainability of the economy. European economic growth and Portuguese must go through investments in the sustainability sector. Soft mobility, renewable energy, energy efficiency”, said Matos Fernandes.

Currently “57 percent of the electricity consumed in Portugal comes from renewable sources”, said Matos Fernandes, “but we are going to reach 2030 with 80 percent of electricity from renewable sources”, he added. That will reduce the Portuguese energy dependence.
