Portugal’s air force made two flights within 24 hours to transport donated organs, one of which to another European country.

The first was made during the early hours of Monday morning between Portugal and another European Portugal and the second was flown later that same day within Portugal. This comes after news that the number of transplants carried out in Portugal during the first half of this year fell by 28%, according to national transplant coordinator, Margarida Ivo da Silva. She said during the pandemic "responses to transplants were only given to urgent or very urgent patients".
