Algarve GNR officer on trial for forging fines

An Algarve GNR officer has been accused of forging fines and misappropriation of money.

The 45-year-old officer is accused of 76 crimes, including embezzlement, forgery, passive corruption, and abuse of power.

According to the Public Prosecutor the facts occurred between October 2015 and March 2018, when the officer was placed in Lagos.

He is currently on trial in the Court of Portimão; he will be sentenced on June 25.

No surprise there. Been coming to Alvor for over 12years and sometimes 4 times a year. We have heard this repeatedly from working expats from airport transfers to publicans. No personal experience but I am not surprised in the least. It's written on many of their faces as in I AM THE LAW. Drop the act and authoritarian attitude and we'll all get along just fine
