The Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL) announced that is opening an international public competition for a five concession on the ninety eight lines servicing the region.

The five year concession will have a cost of about eighty five million Euros, with AMAL predicting a ‘reinforcement of public transportation, a redefinition of careers and existing schedules’. Additionally, the region will see new lines for localities with forty or more inhabitants and an Aerobus service connecting some Councils to Faro Airport.

Bids for the licensing will be accepted until the 27 August, with the whole process having to be finalised by 3 December.
