According to data from the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), of the 60 reservoirs monitored, 18 had water availability above 80 percent of the total volume and 14 had availability below 40 percent of the total volume.

The Ave, Ribeiras do Oeste, Sado, Guadiana, Mira and Barlavento basins had lower values than the storage averages for July, from the reference period (1990/91 to 2018/19).

The Douro basins, with 81.5 percent of the total volume, Tejo (81.1 percent) and Cávado (79.8 percent) were the ones with the most stored water.
