Animal Rescue Algarve

The Sanctuary Shelter “Animal Rescue Algarve” is asking for your support, after Loulé Câmara has issued a demolition order against the animal shelter at Cabanita, citing misuse of land.

ARA has organised a petition to halt this order and is asking you to sign it. The petition can be found in Portuguese and English on their facebook page and also on their website, both under “Animal Rescue Algarve”. Portuguese nationals should enter their ID number in the appropriate box, whilst all other nationalities must enter their passport number in this same space.

ARA thanks everyone for their support.

I’m shocked to here Loule council would ever consider demolishing this wonderful animal rescue centre probably the best in the Algalve. And to say the reason is no licence when non of the centres have licences is shocking. Tourist know of this centre and Loule should be proud to have such a well run establishment within their area . Please re consider

Considering camara has made absolutely no efforts in past 6 years I have lived here to rescue abandoned animals, they should be thankful to shelters like these, not close them down!!! Wake up and smell the coffee. Without this shelter you will have over 100 animals YOU need to take care of.

This is absolutely ridiculous to want to close a Sanctuary with amazing facilities for abandoned cruelly treated animals. Maybe the Câmara should look at their own facilities the Canil which is disgusting and unsafe for dogs close that down and support financially this Sanctuary. SHAME ON YOU CAMARA to even contemplate this. You do not realise how many unwanted, sick abandoned dogs are on the Streets. I am appalled.

Pointless, unnecessary waste of beauocratic nonsense. ARA do a fantastic job funded by good hearted people, providing a much needed public service whilst causing no inconvenience to anyone.

Absolutely essential this centre remains open. the Government have banned euthanasia, the Local Authorities do not have the facilities - what will happen to the 100+ dogs and numerous cats if the centre is closed?
The facility is incredibly well done and the siting is such that it cannot affect anyone.
