United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has lamented the current Covid death toll of over one million and says the world must learn from its mistakes.

The former Portuguese Prime Minister said that while the end of the pandemic is not yet in sight, the world can "overcome this challenge". He called upon the entire global population to do what they can to save lives while waiting for a vaccine, including keeping physical distance, wearing a mask and washing hands.

Comments:

Maybe Secretary General António Guterres should also lament th collateral damage done to prevent mostly very old and ill people from passing away with (or from) Covid-19. At the moment it is already clear that many more people will simply dies because of government actions than of illness caused by the virus.
