The 450kg of seized food represents 150 units of products, at an estimated value of 3.4 thousand euros, advances ASAE.

The inspection operation in question has been ongoing for the past few weeks, targeting supermarkets and markets in tourist areas.

In a statement, ASAE adds that a criminal case was initiated for “price speculation in the sale of foodstuffs” and 50 administrative offences, for several infractions.

Among the reasons for the administrative offence processes, the authority points out the lack of prior communication, the non-compliance with hygiene and food safety requirements, the lack of prices and infractions related to the Complaints Book.

It was also decreed to suspend the activity of a mini-market, for failure to comply with general and specific hygiene requirements.
