In a statement, the Captaincy of the Port of Santa Cruz das Flores and the Captaincy of the Port of Horta draw attention to the forecasts of bad weather in the Western group during Friday morning and in the 'triangle islands' (in the Central group) on the afternoon of the same day, with a gradual improvement expected over Saturday.

The press release, signed by the captain of Porto da Horta, Paulo Rafael da Silva, recommends precautionary and protective measures to the maritime community, "avoiding the areas with the greatest exposure to waves and checking and reinforcing the moorings".

The authority stresses that in these conditions of maritime unrest "the sea can easily reach apparently safe areas", so they ask that in the vicinity of the coastline "an attitude of permanent vigilance" should be maintained.
