Marta Guerreiro said that "later this year" we will conclude the acquisition of 750 containers of 800 litres for the disposal of biodegradable urban waste", which will be "delivered to municipalities that join the pilot project, to be placed next to selective recycling containers".

The project will be financed by the EU.

There will also be campaigns to raise awareness of the separation of organic waste among the population.

Marta Guerreiro called for municipalities to join the initiative in 2020, remembering that changes to the Waste Directive require that the selective collection of organic waste be implemented by 2023.
