According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), this figure represents a decrease of 0.1 percent in relation to February and an increase of 10.3 percent in relation to the same month of the previous year.
“The information in this highlight, referring to March, should already partially reflect the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, both in the behaviour of the price index and in the amount of primary information available to compile the index”, says the institute.
At a regional level, the biggest increase compared to the previous month was registered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (2.2 percent) and the most pronounced decrease was observed in Alentejo (-1.7 percent).
In comparison with the same period last year, the median value of the evaluations increased by 10.3 percent and the highest year-on-year rate of change for the set of evaluations was found in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon (12.1 percent), with the lowest recorded in the Alentejo (1.8 percent).
In the month under review, the median value of bank valuations of apartments was €1,209 per square metre, increasing 11.7 percent compared to the same month, while the median value of bank valuations of houses was €923 per square metre, which represents an increase of 5.1 percent in relation to the same month of the previous year.
