Intermarché immediately took measures that are still in force today, including placing acrylic at all points of contact between customers and employees, marking the floor to ensure minimum distances of 2m, providing disinfectant gel and disinfecting surfaces and trolleys.

The use of a mask is mandatory in all supermarkets and the Lagos, Alvor and Aljezur stores all sell protective equipment including masks, visors, gloves and disinfectant gels at cost, without profit.

The stores still offer priority service to all health and operational professionals before opening hours so they can make their purchases smoothly and they also continue with a solidarity action that began in April, which consists of making bags of bread available in all the bakeries in their stores for families in need to pick up for free.

Intermarché continues to encourage contact with local producers to sell their surplus in their establishments in order to relieve their stock. “We want to be active participants in the economic recovery of these small farmers and producers who naturally deserve recognition for their work. We have supported local and national producers throughout the year and we believe that this way we can promote local development and create value in our community”.

“We have also made offers to institutions within our community at a time when solidarity is the watchword. It was with great pride that we helped entities to obtain protective visors such as Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos (300 units), CM de Aljezur (100 units), Civil Protection of Portimão (30 units) and disposable protective masks for Lagos Fire Department (500 Units).”

Intermarché Lagos, Alvor and Aljezur offer an online service with home delivery available.
