The seven occupants of the “small vessel”, who “claim to be of Moroccan origin”, were transported to the captaincy facilities of the port of Olhão, after being provided with gloves and masks, where “they are in isolation” (due to the Covid 19 pandemic), said Commander Fernando Pereira da Fonseca, of the National Maritime Authority.

Two of the citizens were assisted by a team from INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency), one for feeling unwell, another for having suffered abrasions, the same source said, referring to minor injuries in both cases.

When they were intercepted, the seven men had clothes, food and fuel on their boat.

The case has already been reported to the Immigration services (SEF), said the same source.

The boat, six metres in length, was intercepted by two vessels of the Maritime Police of Olhão and Faro, near the island of Culatra, in the Ria Formosa, in the municipality and district of Faro.
