British Supermarket expands

British supermarket chain, Overseas Supermercados, are expanding their chain of shops to include two new locations in Almancil and Galé.

The new supermarkets will be opening to the public on 28 May and to celebrate Overseas will be handing out free ice creams and lollies to the first 1,500 customers.

A spokesman for Overseas told The Portugal News that the existing stores in Portimão and Guia will continue to be operational and that the locations chosen for the new supermarkets was based on requests from expats to open in Almancil and Galé.

Overseas also has plans for further stores in the region in the future: “We have ambitious plans for the future but haven’t decided on any specific destinations at the moment. We love to hear where people would like to see an Overseas, we’d urge readers to get in touch with us on Facebook to request a particular location”.

Overseas Supermercados have been supplying ex-pats and residents with great British brands for over 20 years. Originally founded in 1996, what started with a warehouse in Tenerife, has now expanded to over 20 stores across Portugal, mainland Spain and the Canary Islands.

“Our mission is to bring shoppers their favourite foods abroad. For a long time expats have requested we open Overseas stores in Almancil and Galé. We’re delighted to bring the brand to new places where customers couldn’t previously get their favourite products.”
