Russian side, Krasny Yar beat Stade Francais 34-29 at the Krasny Yar Stadium in Krasnoyarsk, the third largest city in Siberia, scoring five tries against the Parisian outfit.
Next week the powerful Krasny Yar squad return to Browns Sports & Leisure Club in Vilamoura where they will do battle against a strong British Army team.
Last season the 100th anniversary game between the Army and the British Navy at Twickenham was witnessed by a sell-out crowd of 82,000 such is the popularity of the inter-service rivalry. This year the atmosphere is expected to be particularly charged with anticipation as this will be the tie-breaking game between the Russian and British opposition. 2014 was the last time the two squads were face-to-face on the pitch at Browns, when the “Reds” succeeded in reversing 2013’s loss to the Russian team (31-20) with a final score of 26-22.
On Saturday 24th March at Browns, Vilamoura the 8th edition of the Algarve Rugby Festival will start off with an opening U-18 match between Loulé Rugby and Instituto Británico Huelva Rugby Union at 2pm on Pitch2.
Followed by the main match on Pitch 1 between British Army RU vs Krasny Yar at 4pm.
Browns’ doors will open at 1pm and entrance is free and open to all. Food and beverages will be available at pitch-side bars followed by Live music after the games.
