In a statement, Sporting did not mention the value of Bruno Tabata’s transfer, however the sports press have stated that ‘lions’ will pay €5 million for 50 percent of his transfer to Portimonense.

“It is the happiest day of my life. I am fulfilling one of my main dreams, which was to play for a European giant”, said the 23-year-old Brazilian player in a statement released by Sporting.

Bruno Tabata, who will wear the number seven for the ‘lions’, highlighted the “gigantic” dimension of the club and considered it an important leap in his career.

“I came out of a team that gave me everything and that opened the doors for me in Europe to be able to show my worth in a great European team”, he added.

Tabata is an international under-23 for Brazil and during his time in the Algarve he played in 119 games, scoring nine goals.

“I can play in both wings or in the middle, I have no preference. I’m prepared to play where they want and what I hope is, together with my teammates, to bring a lot of joy to the club,” he stressed.

The Brazilian winger wants “victories and titles” while playing for Sporting, before heaping praise on Wendel, his team mate in the Brazilian U-23 team, who also plays for Sporting.

“Wendel is a friend. Whenever we met in the Brazilian national team we stayed in the same room. It will help me a lot in adapting to the team and I believe his friendship will be an added value for me here at the club”, he concluded.
