In a statement, the National Union of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Workers (Sinttav) states that the partial strike that started on 1 November, with daily stoppages in three different periods of the day, and ended on Sunday was "successful in terms of adherence".

Faced with the lack of response from employers to its demands, Sinttav said in a statement, its members are now starting a fresh strike on Monday that is to end on 31 December.

According to the union, "many thousands of workers" linked to temporary employment agencies and outsourcing companies "consider that they should have long since been taken on staff by the companies using [the services], notably at Altice MEO, NOS, Vodafone, EDP, in banking, insurance" and others.

The end of casual labour contracts, better pay and a reduction of working hours are among the demands of the strikers.
