Cold contingency plan for Lisbon homeless brought into effect

A contingency plan by Lisbon's city council to protect homeless people from the cold is to start at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday), said the city’s Social Rights' councillor, Manuel Grilo.

Lisbon city council is to open a pavilion so the homeless “can access hot meals, sleep in proper temperature and also get warm clothes.” In addition to the pavilion, which will be open daily (24 hours) until the ‘Yellow Phase’ contingency plan is deactivated, the Lisbon metro will leave several stations open during the night.
