The number of suspected cases in Portugal today stands at 58,457, representing an increase of12.2% in the last 24 hours.

There are now 4,957 cases awaiting lab results and a further 20,275 cases being monitored by the authorities according to the latest data from the DGS. Of the confirmed cases 726 have been admitted to hospital and 230 patients are being treated in intensive care.

As of today a total of 187 people have died in Portugal due to coronavirus, the North region is the area with the highest number of deaths (95), followed by the Centre region (52), the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (38) and the Algarve, which today records two deaths.

The number of confirmed cases per regions sees the north with the highest number of cases standing at 4,910, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo registers 1,998 cases, the centre has 1,043 cases, the Algarve has 146 cases, Alentejo 54 cases, the Azores has 52 cases and Madeira has 48 cases
