The risk of contagion of covid-19 in schools and the measures to be taken, particularly concerning testing, will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the local health authorities, said the Deputy General of Health, Rui Portugal.

“Situations should always be evaluated, particularly concerning testing, and are the responsibility of the local health authorities”, said Rui Portugal.

However, he added, “it is not necessary for regular testing generally in schools.”

According to Rui Portugal, if the contagion risk assessment is different, the testing policy will also be different.

“For me and the health authorities this is very clear”, said the DGS Deputy General, stressing the need for students, teachers and staff and parents to comply with hygiene rules.
