Detecting elderly at risk

PSP detected more than 200 elderly people at social risk between May and July and referred 83 for urgent support for being at high risk.

According to the PSP, between 18 May and 31 July, during the operation “Solidariedade Não Tem Idade/2020” (Solidarity is Has No Age/2020), 206 elderly people in social risk situations were detected, 185 elderly people were assigned to social support institutions and 83 were sent for urgent support because they are at high risk.

In a statement, the PSP said that the operation 'Solidarity Has No Age / 2020' has a “preventive nature”.

Until 31 July, 431 police officers were involved, performing 1,142 individual contacts.

The operation will continue until 25 September.
