The production forecast for the 2020 harvest was released by the Viticulture Development Association of Duriense (ADVID), which is based in Vila Real.

The director general of ADVID, Rosa Amador, said that the forecasts for this year point to a harvest “well below last year”, in which the declared production was “above average” and reached 278 thousand barrels of wine (550 litres each).

It is also, she pointed out, a forecast lower than the average of the last six years, which is around 235 thousand barrels of wine.

Rosa Amador stated that this is “not a very easy year” because “there will be less production and there are higher production costs”.
