The local politician considers the infrastructure essential for the central region of the country

Coimbra Municipality has not given up on the ‘dream’ of building an international airport to serve the central region of Portugal, said the Mayor, Manuel Machado.

The Mayor added that, in spite of all criticisms, “this is a fundamental project for the harmonious development of the city and the country in the coming decades”.

The remarks were made during the celebrations of the ‘City Day’, where the politician also mentioned the “urgent” need for a new maternity ward in Coimbra, while highlighting that the Municipality is ‘well on the way’ to having fourteen 100 percent electric buses in circulation.
